Christmas Day is a time for family, and that’s what makes it so special at The Exodus Foundation. We become the family that thousands of needy, poor and homeless Sydneysiders don’t have. It truly is one of the happiest days of the year.

Our guests arrive early and before long the queue for Christmas lunch stretches down Liverpool Road. This year marks the 32nd anniversary of our free Christmas Day lunch for the poor and homeless. “It’s a testament to the need of so many people in our community”, said Rev. Bill Crews. “Each year our Christmas lunch gets bigger and each year more people find a family they thought they wouldn’t have.”

This year our Exodus Foundation chefs will prepare 3,000 traditional Christmas Day meals with all the trimmings. Of course Santa will also be on-hand to give donated presents to needy kids (and the adults too)! Often the gift we give is the only thing they’ll get all Christmas.

Once the crowds clear from The Exodus Foundation our team load up our food van with yet more ham, turkey and pudding – Christmas dinner for the homeless who live in the city.

We’re their family too. “Often they have no one to care for them at Christmas, but we always do”, said Rev. Crews. The Exodus Foundation will make sure they enjoy a very special Christmas dinner.

Our Exodus Foundation Christmas Day really is the happiest day of the year and it’s all thanks to your kind-hearted support.
