Registered Nurse

LOCATION:  180 Liverpool Road, Ashfield, NSW 2131

HOURS:  32 hours per week – Part Time – 8:00 am to 3:00 pm – Monday to Friday

SALARY:  $42 to $46 (dependent on experience) + Super 9.5% + salary packaging

Award: Nurses Award 2010 – Registered Nurse Level 4 Grade 1

 Summary of the Job

The Exodus Foundation works to meet the needs of some of Sydney’s poorest and most disadvantaged. Exodus provides meal services and welfare support programs to people at risk and in circumstances of extreme poverty, homelessness, and disadvantage.

An exciting opportunity exists for a Registered Nurse working within the Social Health and Wellbeing (SHW) services division of the Exodus Foundation. The role is based in the inner west suburb of Sydney (Ashfield). Part time position, Five (5) days a week with a total of 32 hours. Position reports to the SHW Practice Manager.

Selection Criteria:

  • Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent
  • Current registration or eligible for registration as a Registered Nurse (List A) with Australian Health Practitioner Registration Authority (AHPRA)
  • An advantage experience and/or knowledge in mental and drug health nursing practice in a range of clinical settings.
  • At least 5 years’ experience within a clinical setting in Australia such as providing clinical support to a GP in a medical practice.
  • Sound computer literacy with MS Word software
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Highly desirable – Experience with medical practice software (Medical Director/ Pracsoft; Bestpractice)
  • Patient-focused approach in service provision with genuine empathy and interest in their needs
  • Personal passion for community health, welfare, and embracing a holistic approach to social health and wellbeing outcomes to disadvantaged and marginalized sectors of the community.

 

The role includes:

  • Assist the General Practitioner and other members of the SHW team.
  • Contribute to departmental planning, and support the Exodus Foundation in developing and maintaining a holistic approach to service delivery.
  • Providing physical and general psychological comfort and support.
  • Assisting with assessment of guest health needs, including observation.
  • Monitoring and measuring clients’ health status.
  • Phlebotomy
  • Providing medication administration.
  • Undertaking nursing interventions relevant to the level of practice or accreditation.
  • Providing consultation and collaborative management with team members, and other agencies observing cultural sensitivity, confidentiality, and clients’ rights.
  • Developing effective working relationships with other Health clinicians in the acute and non-acute setting and with NGOs to assist in advocating for clients.
  • Promoting community awareness of the needs of consumers and potential consumers and the resources available to meet their care needs.
  • Supervising students attached to the Service

GENERAL PRACTITIONER

An exciting opportunity exists for a General Practitioner working within the Social Health and Wellbeing (SHW) services division of the Exodus Foundation. The role is based in the Inner West suburb of Sydney (Ashfield). Part time position, two (2) days a week with a total of 12 hours. Either Tue/Wed or Wed/Thu. Position reports to the SHW Practice Manager.

Selection Criteria: in bullet points

  • Must have relevant and Australian recognized medical degree, e.g. MBBS or similar
  • Highly desirable Mental Health Skills Training ( Level 1) Drug and Alcohol Training
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) qualification
  • Current and appropriate registration with the Medical Board of Australia, or be eligible for such
  • Personal Professional Indemnity insurance certificate of currency
  • A member of the Inner West Sydney Medicare Local, highly desirable
  • Experience with Mental Health drug and alcohol, and community healthcare programs and initiatives
  • Excellent inter-personal and communication skills across all ages and social groups.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of policies and procedural guidelines that have legal implications, i.e. ensure documentation conforms to legal requirements.
  • Highly desirable to have previous experience working with marginalised and disadvantaged members of the community
  • Demonstrated patient-focused approach in service provision with genuine empathy and interest in their needs.
  • Be always well presented, friendly, courteous, and obliging.
  • Undertake all duties in a diligent manner, with honesty and integrity.

The role includes:

  • Provide high quality, primary health care services to the community, in keeping with best practice standards.
  • Respond to medical/ health problems presented by patients including history taking, diagnosis, investigation, treatment and referral as appropriate.
  • Provide appropriate health promotion and preventative health care advice to all patients attending the practice.
  • Record and maintain accurate, adequate and relevant patient records using the established practice protocols and computerised medical records system, including but not excluding details
  • Prescriptions, Investigations , Treatment , Diagnostic results , Registers and recalls
  • Actively communicate and coordinate with colleagues, specialist services and allied health professionals when sharing the care of a patient
  • Administering, monitoring and ensuring compliance by patients with their medication
  • Understanding of Medicare billing process including item numbers
  • Strengthening partnerships between various clinical and community support organisations responsible for delivering services to the Exodus/PIR target group.
  • Improve referral pathways that facilitate access to the range of services and supports needed by the PIR target group.
  • Promote a community based recovery model to underpin all clinical and community support services delivered to people experiencing severe and persistent mental illness with complex needs.

Summary of the Job

We are seeking an experienced Personal Assistant to support the CEO of the Exodus Foundation.
Duties within the role will include; Diary Management, Email management, filing, scanning, handling correspondence, general administration and handling enquiries for the CEO.
The successful candidate will need to be dynamic, comfortable and confident working in a fast-paced environment. This role would be suitable for an experienced PA who is looking to excel in this role.

  • Managing and coordinating an extremely busy and ever-changing calendar including frequent interstate and international travel arrangements, accommodation, and transfers.

  • Experience managing social media channels – twitter, Facebook, Instagram.

Selection Criteria:

  • Experience as Personal Assistant supporting one person
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience

  • Diploma or Certificate in Administration. Bachelor’s degree an advantage
  • Computer literate – MS applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, etc)

  • Quick and accurate typing (75 w/m)
