Media call: Tomorrow

On Wednesday the homeless of Sydney will get an early Christmas present with the arrival of a brand new food van. The new food van will be put into service by The Exodus Foundation on Wednesday and coincide with the launch of the foundation’s big Christmas appeal.

Every night The Exodus Foundation drives into the heart of the city to feed up to 300 homeless Sydneysiders. The introduction of the new food van will enable even more meals to be served to these hungry rough sleepers.

The new van will build on the legacy of the old which has served over 390,000 meals to the needy over the past 8 years. The van utilises airline-style, temperature controlled food trolleys which can be filled in The Exodus Foundation kitchen then hydraulically stowed in place.

“Our new food van is great news for the increasing number of homeless people in Sydney. It will enable us to meet the growing demand for our meal services”, said Rev. Bill Crews CEO and founder of The Exodus Foundation. “It’s a huge early Christmas present for the rough sleepers of Sydney!”

The new food van will be put into service at the official launch of The Exodus Foundation Christmas Appeal which raises much needed funds to feed the hungry on Christmas Day. Over 3,000 battlers and homeless Sydneysiders are expected to attend The Exodus Foundation’s famous Christmas Day lunch this year.

Celebrities will be on hand to help launch The Exodus Foundation Christmas Appeal. Long-time supporter Jessica Rowe will officially declare the Appeal open and chef Justin North will have specially prepared Double Chocolate Christmas Brownies for our homeless guests.

Also helping feed the needy on Wednesday will be Kerrie McCallum (Editor-in-Chief of Delicious Magazine and Editorial Director of Sunday Style) and Darcy Byrne, the Mayor of Inner West Council.

All media are invited to share this good news story.
